Gyokuro is considered the highest grade of Japanese green tea. The tea plants are shaded 2-3 weeks before the delicate leaves are harvested.Covering the tea plant allows the tea L-Theanine to remain in the plant. the L-Theanine gives a sweet taste and rich umami flavor.
